YouTube Red, the paid premium streaming subscription service from YouTube that first saw the light in 2015, has finally broken out of the shadow of streaming giants Netflix and Hulu with its hit original series Cobra Kai. The Karate Kid franchise spinoff, which leads the streaming charts from May 6 to May 12, is only available in a very limited number of countries: the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and South Korea.
And while YouTube has announced that it will be growing its paid service to Canada and 13 other European countries in the near future, there is no need to wait: Installing a VPN will allow you to watch the hit show from anywhere in the world.
A virtual private network can substitute your local IP with an IP from a different country, meaning that you can virtually teleport yourself to any of the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, or South Korea. There is only one small catch: the VPN must be running servers in the country that you want to teleport to.
Here’s how you can do it
- Find a VPN service that runs servers in any of the above-listed countries
- Download, install, and use the VPN to connect to a server from said countries
- Subscribe to YouTube Red, and voila!
BulletVPN is our pick here. Not only does it run servers in all those counties, but it also boasts an extremely easy to use interface, as well as bullet fast connection speeds.

The entire first season is available for viewing – released all on the same day on May 2. And with a runtime between 22 and 36 minutes per episode, it definitely makes it binge material. It has been also announced that the series will have a second season of ten episodes, set to be released in 2019.
Set 34 years after the events of the original Karate Kid, the show follows Johnny Lawrence as he seeks to redeem himself by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai dojo. His actions reignite his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso, who is now successful but troubled without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi.
The first two episodes are available for free, but the rest require a subscription. Curious to get a taste? Have a look at the trailer…
