Unlocking WhatsApp Calling in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates is one of the most restrictive countries when it comes to social platforms. Affected services include Whatsapp, arguably the most popular communication software in the world. WhatsApp calling has been banned in the UAE unfortunately. UAE residents might have gotten used to not having such services, but what about expats? The UAE is full of Indians and Europeans expats. Taking away this service would be very vexing for them and the people they connect with. Fortunately, there is a way around the VoIP ban, with a VPN in place, anyone can unlock WhatsApp calling in the United Arab Emirates.

How to Unblock WhatsApp Calling in the UAE

There are plenty of VoIP services around, think Skype, WhatsApp, and Viber, but the UAE has outlawed the video and voice calling services provided by those apps. ISPs in the Emirates – du and Etisalat – have therefore banned WhatsApp calling. However, being an expat becomes more difficult if you don’t have that kind of service. This is where VPNs come in. A VPN helps you unblock WhatsApp calling wherever you are in the UAE. The procedure is easy, just go through the following steps to make WhatsApp calls to whomever you want:

  1. Sign up with ExpressVPN or any other VPN that actually works in the UAE.
  2. VPNs will work on any PC, Mac, Android or iOS device, so just download and install the appropriate app.
  3. After downloading and signing in, connect to any server of the hundreds of servers a VPN offers.
  4. Enjoy a warm virtual family gathering.

Having a VPN helps in keeping what’s yours private. No one can spy on you or share private information you hold dear. Wherever you are in the UAE now, you can unblock WhatsApp and use it freely.

Best VPN for Unlocking Whatsapp Calling in the UAE

As we mentioned above, a VPN helps you unlock any blocked app by the UAE government. Doesn’t matter where you reside, you can access WhatsApp Calling in every Emirate, such as Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi. Now here comes the tricky part. Having a VPN is easy, but choosing the right one is where it gets tricky. Using a free VPN will get you nowhere in the UAE and you will be wasting your time for nothing.

While in the United Arab Emirates, I suggest you use ExpressVPN. This is a very efficient VPN that guarantees a perfect experience with a cherry on top. The cherry is the fact that they offer a complete refund within a month if the user is not satisfied. And that’s not going to happen.

So without further ado, here are some of the best VPNs that can help you unlock your WhatsApp Calling service in the UAE.

      Hi Christel,
Contrary to common belief, VPN use in the UAE is not illegal per se.
It is only illegal if it is used “for the purpose of committing a crime or preventing its discovery”
