NETFLIX JANUARY 2019 –  ARRIVALS

We’ve become accustomed to the fact that Netflix removes some of its content every month. However, we’re still blessed as it also offers a lot of new material. Remember to keep checking back as the list is far from done. Here are the top Netflix January 2019 arrivals:

JANUARY 1ST

  • A Series of Unfortunate Events: Season 3
  • COMEDIANS of the World (Stand-Up Comedy Series)

JANUARY 11TH

  • Friends from College: Season 2

JANUARY 18TH

  • Grace & Frankie Season 5
  • Girl

JANUARY 25TH

  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Season 4 (Final Part)
  • Club of Crows / Club De Cuervos: Season 4
  • Kingdom: Season 1

NETFLIX ORIGINALS – TOP PICKS

There’s been talk about Netflix removing all the Disney movies and shows from its catalog. Therefore, we might have to say goodbye to Star Wars and all Marvel movies. Yet again, the channel is also bringing us high-quality original series like Sabrina and Haunting on Hill House, while a new show called Kingdom is set to break records. We’re going to have to wait and see. So, without further ado, this is what I know so far about the most anticipated shows coming in January 2019.

Club de Cuervos: Season 4

The series is about Cuervos FC, a team that goes into the deep end after the death of its owner Salvador Iglesias. The crisis begins as the rivalry between Salvador’s children intensifies. The son is very keen to take over after his father’s passing; the daughter, Isabel, is more fit for the role to run the team though. Chava’s plans to change the team – make it more akin to Real Madrid – leads him to poor decisions and conflict with his subordinates.

The tone isn’t dramatic all the time. You will get some giggles here and there as this show is part comedic. There’s little info about what’s to come in the 4th and final season, but based on what we’ve seen so far from the show, we’d expect outstanding comedy and plenty of that sibling rivalry. Tune in on the 25th of January and find out for yourself.

A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS: SEASON 3

Let’s get past Olaf’s drama and step right into the recap. Season 2 started when the kids arrived at Prufrock School where every orphan is considered to be an outcast. That’s when Count Olaf’s shenanigans began and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. There are a lot of questions to be answered in season 3, like what happened to Beatrice after she was thrown off the cliff? Does she really have butterfly wings as Olaf said?

On the other hand, by the end of season 2, we got to see a mysterious woman. Maybe that’s Kit Snicket, Jack and Lemony’s sibling. When you think of it, Lemony Snicket actually said that he knows this woman very well. And what’s the deal with the Sugar Bowl? We hope to find answers as the 3rd season starts airing on the 1st of January 2019. Joining the cast will be:

  • Richard E. Grant as the Man with a Beard.
  • Beth Grant as the Woman with Hair but No Beard.
  • Kassius Nelson as Fiona Widdershins.
  • Max Greenfield as Dewey Denouement.
  • Peter MacNicol as Ishmael.

KINGDOM: SEASON 1

Kingdom is the second Korean original series by Netflix. The show will premiere on January 25. Now entering its 3rd season, the first two seasons of the show set the stage for an epic climax. For those who haven’t seen it yet, this is how I can best describe it: We’re all familiar with zombie-themed shows and know the drama that this medium is capable of inducing. Now add to that a touch of Netflix horror. That makes for an outstanding series.

Taking place during medieval times, a prince is set on a suicide mission to fend off a virus threatening his kingdom. Little does he know that a herd of flesh-eating zombies could drag humanity into the apocalypse.

The Crown Prince is played by Ju Ji-hoon. A lot of hard work has gone into the series: a member of the art team died from overworking.

FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE: SEASON 2

Friends from College tells the story of a group of old friends that run into each other in New York City. Currently in their forties and having a kind of complicated romantic past together, these are the type of friends that you might have and like, yet complain about how competitive they can get.

Ethan, Lisa, Sam, Nick, Max, and Marianne try to navigate life, bringing their old friends back into their circles. I’m really interested in this show because Colbie Smulders and Key are part of it. Brought to you by the geniuses of “Get them to the Greek” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, there’s a lot of comedy talent in this show, meaning that when it’s funny, it’s really funny.

The second season will consist of 8 episodes. Viewers around the world are bummed since they don’t get to see enough messups this year. With Sam trying to reconcile her husband and the six trying to fix what’s left of their friendship, the drama will be enormous. Be the seventh member of the group when you stream the show on Netflix in January.

NETFLIX JANUARY 2019 ARRIVALS – SUMMING UP

There you have it, the list is in your hands now. While I update it throughout December, you can start streaming the previous seasons of the shows listed above. Keep checking this article as more of January 2019’s arrivals and departures will be added.
