Starting today, HBO will start airing a new documentary on the late comic genius Robin Williams. The show, ‘Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind’, will present viewers with an intimate look at Williams’ struggles with alcoholism, addiction, and depression, using never-before-seen footage and sound clips of William’s own voice.

The tribute also features interviews fellow actors and comedian who knew him personally, including Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, David Letterman, Steve Martin, in addition to his son, Zak Williams.

Robin McLaurin Williams was born in Chicago in 1951. He started performing as a stand-up comedian in the 70s and is often credited with leading San Francisco’s comedy renaissance. He rose to fame after landing an iconic role as an alien called Mork in the sci-fi sitcom Mork & Mindy, and his career went from strength to strength thereon.

Williams achieved critical acclaim with in a great number of roles, too many to list in this article, but just to refresh your memory, we’re listing a few of our favorites: Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, Good Will Hunting, The Fisher King, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumanji.

His trophy cabinet includes the 1997 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, two Emmy Awards, seven Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Grammy Awards.

Sadly, an on and off relationship with substance abuse eventually took its toll on August 11, 2014, when, aged 63, Williams succumbed to his depression and took his own life.

The show will air on both HBO GO and HBO NOW starting today. But if you happen to be currently residing outside of territories covered by HBO, you’re gonna have to wait until you come home.

Not So Fast

Did you now that you can always access your HBO subscription anywhere in the world? All you need to do is use a VPN. Those virtual private networks run a network of servers in different locations around the world and route your traffic through them. Using a VPN means that you get an extra layer of security – through their encryption – and anonymity – VPNs mask your real IP, the thing that internet services use to know where you are.

So instead of your real IP, a VPN will attach your traffic with an IP from their server. So if you connect using a server located in the US, your data will travel with a US IP. Perfect for accessing geo-restricted content.

Here’s How Simple It Is

  1. Download and install a VPN
  2. Use it to connect to a US server
  3. Log in to HBO GO or HBO NOW, sign in, and enjoy the show!

There are many VPNs out there, but the one we would recommend is ExpressVPN. ExpressVPN offers military-grade encryption, a wide range of server locations – meaning that you can connect to almost any geo-restricted platform, and performed magnificently when it comes to internet speed.
