For Breaking Bad fans, Vince Gilligan is a superstar. The man credited as the creator and head writer for the critically-acclaimed series did not rest on his laurel after the conclusion of the show and instead teamed up with Peter Gould again for the spin-off prequel Better Call Saul.
Set six years before the events of Breaking Bad, the show centers on con-man turned small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill, and follows his transformation into the criminal-for-hire Saul Goodman. The show, which premiered on AMC in 2015, is currently set to debut its 10-episode fourth season on August 6, 2018.
As with the previous seasons, the show will be made available on Netflix eventually, but if you want to be the first to catch it then you’d better tune in to AMC who will be the first to air it.
AMC is an American basic cable and satellite television channel. If you live outside the US then you won’t be able to access it… Unless you have a VPN.
What is a VPN?
At heart, a VPN, short for virtual private network, is a network of servers scattered around the globe. Its main function is to allow users to route their traffic through those servers. This is done for a number of reason, including increased anonymity and circumventing geo restrictions.
Basically, when your traffic is routed through a server located in country X, it will leave the server with a country X IP instead of your real IP – the IP is what online services look at to determine where you are coming from). So, to give a simple example, if I am living outside the states, I can use a VPN, connect to a US server and fool online platforms, such as AMC’s streaming channel, to think that I am currently residing inside the states. Sounds pretty handy, doesn’t it?
This is exactly why VPNs are so popular among expats as a way to access services from home. It’s very simple to use too.
- Download and install a VPN
- Connect to a US server
- Head over to amc.com
- Enjoy the show!
There are many VPNs out there and it can be pretty hard to choose. But the one we recommend is ExpressVPN, simply because its server network is unmatched – meaning that you can connect to almost any geo-restricted platform, boasts military-grade encryption, and performs magnificently when it comes to speed – this is particularly important for streaming shows in HD without any interruptions.
Like its predecessor, Better Call Saul is a critically acclaimed show and has amassed numerous nominations, including a Peabody Award, 23 Primetime Emmy Awards, seven Writers Guild of America Awards, five Critics’ Choice Television Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and two Golden Globe Awards.
